Big Bend Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Tornado, West Virginia. Big Bend is one of the four golf courses owned by Kanawha County, West Virginia.
Big Bend Golf Course first opened for play in 1964. The course was designed by Claude Evans.
The fairways are tree lined, and water comes into play on three holes. Some of the greens are large and have enough slope to test your putting skill. The Coal River flows alongside part of the course and adds to the scenery.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,327 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,762 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 7, a par-5 that plays to 570 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 13, a par-3 that plays to 164 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 9, a 438 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Big Bend Golf Course is # 1, a 478 yard par-5.

Well, this course is just awful. It's in such bad shape that the first-timers who drive out there--because they don't know how bad it is--complain vociferously. In retaliation, the staff are abusive. It's so bad that the county parks director had to investigate the abuse by the staff!

The pace of play can be slow sometimes, but overall a nice place to play. The course plays, somewhat, long and can be kind of challenging. You can't beat the price.

This is one of the worst 18 hole courses I have ever played. It's never in good condition, the layout/course design is uninteresting and ugly. The only thing this course has gone for it is the fact that the Charleston, WV area does not have very many golf courses. The course is not necessarily easy, though, as it does tend to play rather long.
