Detailed description

Town & Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located on the bluffs of the Mississippi River just ten minutes from both downtown Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Town & Country Club's golf course is the second oldest golf course in the United States still being played on its original land. The only course older is Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York.

The course first opened for play in 1893 with a 5-hole course laid out by George McCree. The course was expanded to 9-holes in 1895. The design was handled by E. J. Frost. Robert Foulis, Stanley Thompson and Dick Nugent have done redesigns on the course.

The course has generous fairways.Water hazards come into play on five holes. This parkland style course has some fairways bordered by trees and others by hillsides.

Par for the course is 72 for men and 74 for ladies. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,381 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,495 yards. #s 12 and 16 are the longest holes on the course, both are 533 yard par-5s. The shortest hole on the course is # 2, a par-3 that plays to 110 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 6, a 468-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Town & Country Club is # 13, the 283 yard par-4.

The signature hole is #6, the 468 yard, par-4. This hole requires a blind approach shot over a large hill to the green.
