Detailed description

High Mountain Golf Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, approximately 40 minutes outside of New York City.

The High Mountain golf course first opened for play in July 1966. The course was designed by Alec Ternyei. A complete remodel of the course was completed in 2004. The remodel was designed by Ronald S. Cutlip.

The 18 Hole Championship Course in northwest Bergen County is situated in Franklin Lakes on a tract of 130 acres adjacent to the Haledon Reservoir. The comparatively high elevation of its location assures players of summer temperatures 5 to 10 degrees cooler than those in neighboring communities.

The course terrain consists of rolling land, complemented by majestic oaks, sparkling ponds, and streams. The greens are dramatized against High Mountain, one of the area's highest mountains and one of the first sights seen by early voyagers on the Hudson River.

The par 71 course with its tree-lined fairways, challenging waterways, and other hazards offers a choice of four plays: championship of 6,513 yards, a regular of 6,200 yards, a senior of 5,484 yards, and a ladies at 5,147 yards. Each hole has a distinctive character and several are comparable to some of the most famous holes in America.

Wednesday, December 31, 2014 was High Mountain Golf Club's last day in operation. The course is slated for residential development.
