Detailed description

Grossinger Country Club is a Resort, 27 hole golf facility located in Liberty, New York. The facility has an 18-hole golf course, The Big G, and a 9-hole golf, The Little G.

The Grossinger courses first opened for play in 1925. They were designed by A. W. Tillinghast. The courses were redesigned in 1968 by Joe Finger.

Grossinger is referred to as a country oasis among the elite courses in the Catskills.

Like Finger,s other Catskill course, the Concord Monster, each nine at Grossinger starts atop a hill works down into a valley and then back to the top of the hill. Many holes bend, most right to left, around bunkers and water hazards. With the changes in elevation come all kinds of uphill, downhill and side-hill lies.

The eighteen hole course, known as the "Big G", is very scenic with a front nine that plays long and has narrow fairways that are tree lined.  The back nine is even more challenging because of its wide diversity of holes and water hazards.  The greens are fast, undulating, and medium sized.

Players especially like the risk-reward par fives, all reachable with well-placed drives, but loaded with danger and water hazards in front of the greens. The most memorable--and one of the most recognizable holes in the area-- is the 13th, with its island green.
