Detailed description
The Pompey Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Pompey, New York, overlooking Butternut Creek Valley, just 10 miles south of Syracuse.

The Pompey Club was established in 1962, and the golf course was designed by Hal Purdy of Kingston, New York.

The gently rolling hills of Pompey are 1700' above sea level, 30 feet higher than Lake Placid. Their sunsets are second to none and on a clear day you can see Lake Ontario, sixty miles away. The golf course is maintained at a very high standard of quality and has four tee options.

The golf course measures 6600+ yards with a course rating of 71.8, a slope rating of 127, and plays to a par of 72. The gently rolling contours were designed to challenge the skill of the expert without discouraging the new and higher handicap player. The course has a few trees that can alter your shots and seven dogleg fairways. The level greens are protected by some sand bunkers and mounds. Water hazards (ponds) come into play on three holes. The course features fountains in two of the ponds on the #1 and #2 holes. The location is usually very windy, even on a "calm day" the wind will blow about 10-15 mph. Remember "the valley" when on the greens to see where the ball will break.
