Lake Winds Golf Course, previously named Alexander City Municipal Golf Course and before that named Midway Golf Course is a municipal public Golf Course located in Alexander City, Alabama. The course is located 5 miles east of downtown Alexander City just south of US 280 on County Road 40.
The course opened for play in 1966. It was designed by Willis Fuller. The course was extensively renovated between 2000 and 2002.
Lake Winds Golf Course is a par 70, 18-hole, old-fashioned course with small circular greens that makes chipping and putting challenging. Lake Winds is tucked away in a small valley within sight of Lake Martin on the Tallapoosa River. The course was built on hilly terrain, so you can expect some interesting lies in the fairways. Water hazards (three lakes) come into play on eight holes, and the narrow fairways are tree-lined A variety of animal and plant life gives you a feeling of being as one with nature.
