Buxahatchee Country Club first opened for play in 1966. The course was designed by Bancroft Timmons.
The course was a 9 hole course that would remind one of the Scottish links-style. The terrain varied from flat to hilly, plus water hazards (a lake and a creek) came into play on every hole but one. The greens were elevated and undulating. There was an additional set of men's tees when playing an eighteen hole round.
Timberline Golf Club, a semi-private 18 hole course that opened in 2002 was built on top of the Buxahatchee Golf Course and ajacent land that was available for expansion.
Buxahatchee Country Club closed in 2001.
