The Florence Golf & Country Club golf course dates to 1927. The course was designed by Chris Burns. This tree-lined course has fairways that vary in width and defined by a standard cut of rough. The terrain is hilly, and the greens are small, slightly sloped, and fast.

At its peak in the 1970s and '80s Florence Golf & Country Club had 750 members. By 2009 there were only 81 and a sprawling new clubhouse they couldn't afford. The course was closed December 31, 2009 and never reopened for the 2010 season.
