Cypress Lakes Golf & Country Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Cypress Lakes Golf & Country Club first opened for play in 1991. The course was designed by Gary Baird.
Cypress Lakes demands accuracy and smart golf. It's a shot-maker's course, pure and simple. Water hazards (twenty lakes) come into play on all of the holes. In addition, sand bunkers are incorporated into the design every hole but one. The greens are slick and pretty fast with some troblesome slopes. The collection of par-3s is fantastic. The signature hole is #7, this par 3 plays as short as 101yards and measures 225-yard from the back tees requires a shot to an island green. Trees behind the green can save long tee shots, but a watery death is likely. The 12th (113 to 154yards) and 17th (121 to 224 yards) all carry over water. The 12th has a variety of tee choices that can really give the hole a different look. The par-4s are good risk-reward holes, heavy on the risk side. The dogleg-right 13th (351 to 453 yards) is a prime example. Standing on the tee, you might think you can cut the corner. What you can't see from the tee is the water that crosses the fairway and how small the landing area is. Hit your tee shot left, right or too long and you're all wet. The fourth (467 to 566 yards) is the longest hole on the course. It's a nice par-5. The narrow fairway is protected by fairway bunkers, and there's water guarding the front of the green. The course is a shot-maker's dream . . . or a nightmare for someone struggling to hit it straight.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,605 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,058 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 566 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 142 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 13, a 453 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Cypress Lakes Golf & Country Club is # 5, the142 yard par-3.
