Grayhawk Golf Club - Talon, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Grayhawk's Talon Course first opened for play in 1994. The course was designed by Gary Panks and former U.S. Open and PGA Champion David Graham.
Grayhawk's Talon Course is one of the highest rated daily-fee golf courses in Arizona. The Talon Course is included on Golf Magazine's prestigious list of the "Top 100 You Can Play in the U.S."
The Talon Course provides views of the nearby McDowell Mountains as well as the distant skyline of Phoenix and Scottsdale.
The back nine of the golf course was built around a series of deep box canyons and many holes skirt thick stands of Mesquite, Palo Verde and Ironwood trees while ancient Saguaros and numerous species of native flowering plants dot the out-of-play areas.
Graham and Panks place a premium on positioning off the tee, but a little extra distance will come in handy. As a design element, the fairways appear smaller than their true size. Most of the greens are quite large, however, they are multi-tiered. Careful consideration of the day's pin sheet is required to avoid difficult putts from tier-to-tier. The areas around the greens are typically generous, giving golfers a shot at salvaging par after a wayward approach.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,973 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,143 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 588 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 126 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, a 459 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Grayhawk's Talon Course is # 17, the 126 yard par-3.
