Detailed description

Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort's golf course first opened for play in 1957. The golf course was designed by Lawrence M. Hughes and Johnny Bulla.

This resort golf course was once an exclusive private club. The fairways are lined with palm trees and tropical foliage. Four lakes that come into play on five holes. The terrain is mostly flat. There are 75 sand bunkers located along the fairways and greenside. Many of the greens allow bump and run opportunities because the bunkers are not directly in front of the holes.

This is true resort golf course - playable for golfers of all skill levels. Many holes feature spectacular mountain backdrops, especially on the back side.

Three sets of tees play to distance and slopes that measure 6775 yards/121 slope, 6371 yards/117 slope, and 5701 yards with a slope of 122 for women.

As the slope ratings indicate, this is a player friendly layout - and one of the most traditional designs in Arizona (originally created in 1957 from farm fields and an orange grove - redesigned in 1977)

We were paired with 2 OLD non golfers, one who hit an extra shot whenever he pleased and they did nothing too fast. Besides, that the pace was unbearably slow. The range told us to leave the men but there was no place to go. We could not take it after 10 holes. This was in Jan. 2013 and the fairways and green were in terrible shape. The fairways had no grass. We were staying at this mediocre resort. The staff at the resort were wonderful..Proshop not so great. We will never waste our time or money on this course again.

I had no preconceived ideas about the golf course. I knew that it was built many years ago so my expectations were not high. We figured to use the course as a prelude to the more challenging courses in the area. The course served its purpose, the people at the resort were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were great. I would consider coming back to Orange Tree with the understanding again that I would use the Golf Course for my first round but would seek more challenging courses in the area.
