Walnut Ridge Golf & Country Club is a Semi-Private, 9 hole golf course located in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
Walnut Ridge Golf & Country Club first opened for play in 1968. The course was designed by Jimmy Dowell. The course sits on and that used to be part of a WWII airbase, adjacent to what is now Walnut Ridge Regional Airport. The greens are small, there are no water hazards, but there are numerous well positioned sand bunkers to add to the challenge..
Par for the course is 36. From the back tees the course plays to 3,046 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 2,477 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 483 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 1, a par-3 that plays to 158 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 7, a 448 yard par-5 challenge and the #2 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 1, a 158 yard par-3.
Additional men’s tee locations are available for those wishing to play a double loop 18-hole round.
The course closed because the adjacent Walnut Ridge Regional Airport which owned the land would not renew the lease because they wanted it for an aircraft related business expansion. The course was bulldozed, and the plans for the business expansion never materialized. The course closed in 2010.
