Detailed description

La Jolla Country Club, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in La Jolla, California.

La Jolla CC was founded in 1901, though the golf was more of an informal gathering of holes, set down in what today is the village of La Jolla. By 1913, the club moved up onto parts of the current bluff-top location, and consisted of nine holes, playing to sand and oil greens, as was common in that era.

By 1921, additional land was purchased, forming the site as it largely exists today. William Watson was hired to design the new 18-hole course, again with sand and oil greens. With a desire to modernize the course to newer standards, the Club hired William P. Bell to re-design the course, which was completed in 1927, and is, for the most part, the course that is played today.

Arthur Jack Snyder redesigned three holes in 1963, Ted Robinson redesigned an additional three holes in 1973, and Rees Jones redesigned the entire course in 1983. Todd Eckenrode – Origins Golf Design Renovates - renovated the courses in 2019.

The La Jolla Country Club is located next to the ocean. The greens are fast and very difficult to read. The course has many tree-lined fairways and offers a great challenge for any skill level.

Traditional course set on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. It's hilly with bunkers and plenty of trees. Private.
