The Quarry Golf Course is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in La Quinta, California.
The Quarry Golf Course opened for play in 1994. The course was designed by Tom Fazio.
The Quarry at La Quinta is both a private golf community with a planned build of approximately 100 homes. The property for this exclusive golf course and community was previously the location of a sand and gravel pit. The Quarry at La Quinta is recognized worldwide as one of the finest private golf communities. Situated in a peaceful cove at the base of the picturesque Coral and Santa Rosa mountains, this premier member-owned golf club offers great golf.
Fazio came up with a three-level layout with very distinct playing areas. The quarry wall is a focal point allowing golfers to play off it, alongside it, into it and off it again. This is dramatically evident on the picturesque 10th hole. The bottom quarry floor level has seven holes. Another seven holes sit along the alluvial fan 80 feet above the quarry. Four holes are perched within a mountain cove above. Golfers would experience a gradual change in elevation of more than 400 feet when playing the course.
One of the first things a golfer notices is that they rarely have to play uphill. In fact, with the exception of two or three approaches to greens, golfers play the entire course on level fairways. There are, of course, downhill shots and two par threes where the course moves from the upper terrain onto the quarry floor.
