Detailed description

Bighorn Golf Club is a Private 36 hole golf facility located in Palm Desert, California. This is one of the desert's most privileged communities and exclusive golf club. Bighorn is known for its spectacular landscaping, million-dollar homes and the unique design of its course, which was constructed specifically to follow the desert's natural environment and contours. At this resort, members and their guests choose from 18 holes of Arthur Hills-designed golf on the Mountains Course or 18 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf on the Canyons Course.

The Canyons golf course opened in 1998. The course was designed by Thomas Fazio.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 7,053 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,094 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 3, a par-5 that plays to 550 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 183 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 8, a 457 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Bighorn Golf Club, The Canyons is # 15, a 183 yard par-3.

Absolutely the finest maintaned and perhaps the most beautiful courses I have ever played - better than Aviara and Pelican by a considerable margin. Certainly on the "Bucket List".

Great chance to dream a bit and get throughly challenged. Nice to use a locker between plates that said "Michael Jordan" and "jack Nicklaus!"

The Canyons is one of the finest courses in the Desert. The 18th, a 456 yard par 4 over an arroyo, is one of the 2 most scenic finishing holes in the Desert along with Stone Eagle and one of the 3 toughest along with Stone Eagle and the Quarry. I played the day the course re-opened after it was closed for most of the summer and it was in pristine condition--perfectly manicured fairways, greens (which were suprisingly quick for summer bermuda)and bunkers. Play it if you have the chance!

Beg, borrow, steal to get close to a member to play this track! I was lucky enough to get on as a guest for marshalling the LPGA Samsung World Championship. It is so perfect the fairways and rough look like Astroturf. Not a mark on them! No weeds! No "odd" grass! The scenery is fantastic. I have one hole on my laptop as wallpaper!
