Detailed description

Monterey Country Club is a Private, 27 hole golf facility located in Palm Desert, California. The facility has three 9-hole courses, The South, The East and The West. These 9-hole courses can be combined to form 3 different 18 hole golf courses, South/East, South/West and East/West.

Monterey Country Club first opened for play in 1979. The course was designed by Ted Robinson.

Monterey Country Club's 27-hole championship course is nestled on 375 acres of rolling hills with spectacular views of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Set against a rugged desert terrain, all three nines feature narrow, palm tree-lined fairways and well-bunkered greens with water coming into play on several holes.

The 9-hole West Course at Monterey Country Club plays to a par-36 and 3,144 yards.

The 9-hole East Course at Monterey Country Club plays to a par-35 and 2,964 yards.

The 9-hole South Course at Monterey Country Club plays to a par-36 and 3,041 yards.

Good Ted Robinson course. Testy because narrow fairways, good trapping, and pin placements quite hard. Too close to condos and traps not in good shape. Used for the player apptitude test for potential club pros for southern California and the scores are quite high suggesting that the course is more of a challenge than at first appears - common for Ted Robinson courses.

A typical late 70's Desert track winding tightly through condos. Flat greens and short holes that don't require much shot making make this an uninteresting venue, unless you want to go low for a day.
