Rancho Mirage Country Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Rancho Mirage, California.
Rancho Mirage Country Club first opened for play in 1982.The course was designed by Harold Heers.
This is not a long course. It plays to just over 6,100 yards with a par of 70 from the men's tees. The fairways are tree lined fairways and well placed bunkers and water that can come into play will provide plenty of challenge. Water can come into play on 9 of the 18 holes, and 6 of the 10 par 4's play in excess of 400 yards.
The challenge of the course is immediately presented on first tee shot that requires accuracy to avoid the steep slope to the right and trees to the left. The course gradually lengthens over the next few holes until you reach the stretch of Par 4's from #7 through #12. With 4 of these 6 holes playing well over 400 yards, and the other two requiring precision to avoid the large lakes and waterfalls. The finishing holes are far kinder, making them perfect for a nice close.
The course was sold in early 2015 and closed June 2015. The new owners purchased the land for residential development. A group of Rancho Mirage Country Club homeowners have filed a class action lawsuit against the owners of the golf course to stop the development. Their lawsuit claim that their homes came with a “covenant designed to protect the golf course from development. And that they bought the golf course subject to that covenant,”
