Bijou Municipal Golf Course is a Public 9 hole golf course located in South Lake Tahoe, California.
Bijou Golf Course opened in 1920. The course was designed by Virgil Gilcrease.
The course plays rather easily, but there are occasions where good course management is a must. Pine trees line many of this course's fairways. The greens are medium-sized and flat. There are some sand bunkers, but no water hazards in play. Situated in a High Sierra alpine meadow, the vistas of Heavenly Ski Area and Freal Peak in the background are gorgeous to behold. Bijou is close to South Lake Tahoe casinos and has a first-come-first-serve basis.
Par for the course is 32. From the back tees, the course plays to 2,002 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 1,733 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-4 that plays to 347 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 2, a par-3 that plays to 143 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, the 347-yard par-4 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Bijou is # 2, the 143 yard par-3.
The course closed in 2020 due to Covid and did not reopen in 2021 as anticipated.
