Detailed description

Raccoon Creek Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Littleton, Colorado.

Raccoon Creek first opened for play in 1983. Richard M. Phelps designed the course.

Water comes in to play on 14 of 18 holes, and there are approximately 50 bunkers.  In addition, over 2000 trees were planted in 1983 and 1984.

The golf course is a par-72 that plays between 5130 and 7045 yards depending on tee location. The established landscape provides challenging elevations and water hazards for the experienced golfer. At the same time, the fairways are generous enough to make Raccoon Creek a good course for the first-time golfer to learn how to play.

This is a wonderful course but almost every time I have played here (over 10 times) I have experienced very rude and inconsiderate golfers on the course. There is a group of golfers who seem to be regulars that broadcast loud music from their golf carts, and and one occasion one of them drove their cart right in front of me just as I was getting ready to play (in my fairway).

Raccoon Creek is a great course, very challenging layout with a nice mix of risk/reward holes. It has been in very good condition every time I've played it over the years. It is definitely a high end course, like what you would expect if you traveled somewhere for a golf vacation. If you live in Denver metro you owe it to yourself to play this course at least once. The weekday 10-Play card for $340 that is available on their website is a fantastic deal and the fact that you do NOT have to purchase a cart makes it a true value for walkers. Thanks Raccoon Creek!

Lots of water on the course but holes are laid out so that you can get by without problem with even moderatly well played shots. Greens are very true and will hold a good approach shot.

The sand traps have been as hard as a rock for several years. I would think that they could improve this situation.

Also at this time they are replacing the irrigation system 10/08.

Lots of evidence of digging on course.
