Sugarmill Woods Country Club and the golf courses are enclossed within the Sugar Mill Senior Community.
The first nine holes of a golf course, two tennis courts and a swimming pool were completed in 1975. The second nine hole golf course was completed in November, 1978, and the third nine was completed in December of 1981. Another pool and a tennis complex in Oak Village were added later. The courses were designed by Ron Garl. All the recreational facilities have since been sold to a Japanese company.
The Oak Course Nine measures 3,459 yards and plays to a par-36.
The Pine Course Nine measures 3,519 yards and plays to a par-36.
The Cypress Course Nine measures 3,447 yards and plays to a par-36.
The Pine/Oak Course has many out-of-bounds areas and narrow fairways lined with tall pine trees. The Oak Course is more open, water does not come into play. The signature hole on the Pine/Oak Course is #3, a 452-yard, par 4, which has a dogleg left fairway and is very difficult to reach in regulation. The Cypress Course has cypress trees that can affect your shots. The fairways are narrow and heavily bunkered. This Cypress Course has small greens, and water only comes into play on one hole.
