The Course at Westland first opened for play in 1968. The course was redesigned by Mark McCumber in 1994.

The Course at Westland is a links-style course. The fairways are open, and the greens are large, flat, and medium to fast in speed. The terrain is flat with lakes and canals coming into play on almost every hole. The signature hole is #2, a 177-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot to a well-bunkered, large green. Wind can be a major factor on this hole.
