The course first opened for in 1973. Jupiter Dunes was designed by Bob Erickson. It has been renovated by both Tom Fazio and Tom Pearson.

The course sits on a 28-acre estuary between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. The Intracoastal Waterway, tidal flow and small man-made lakes come into play, point of fact, water hazards that come into play on 12 holes. The narrow fairways contain sand bunkers and some palm trees. Even with these obstacles, the course's truncated length lets beginners make an enjoyable foray into the game, and more experienced players can polish their short game.
