The course from others in southwest Florida because of its elevation changes. From tee to green, some holes feature as much as thirty feet in elevation change. The fairways are fairly restrictive with a defined cut of rough on their borders. There are winding lakes and flowering marshes that come into play several times. The greens vary in size and undulation, and there are many large mounds on the fairways.

Watch out for # 6, the 581-yard par-5 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Pelican Marsh is # 12, a 185 yard par-3.
