Royal Palm Golf Club, previously named Royal Palm Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Naples, Florida
The first nine holes were finished in 1974. Those nine holes today are numbers 10 through 18. In 1974 and 1975, the second 9 holes were completed. The championship 18-hole golf course officially opened on December 31, 1975, as Lely Royal Palm Country Club. David Wallace designed the course. From 1976 through 1984, Lely Royal Palm Country Club operated as a developer’s club. On July 25, 1984, Lely Estates, Inc. announced its intention to sell the golf course. On May 1, 1985, the course was renamed Royal Palm Country Club.
The course was renovated in 2000. Gordon Lewis handled the renovation design.
The course was renovated in 2019 by Ron Garl. Along with the $3.5 million renovation to the course was a subtle change to the name, from Royal Palm Country Club to Royal Palm Golf Club. The redesign of the golf course included several holes where rock walls have been constructed to enhance existing water features. All the bunkers have been rebuilt. All the fairways and rough have been regrassed and all the greens have been redesigned. Some new mounding has been introduced to enhance the visual aspect of the golf course and to give the golfers a better feeling of privacy. New irrigation systems are in place, along with new drainage pipes in many areas.
Royal Palm Country Club is a relatively open course, with palms lining the fairways and abundant water, which comes into play on thirteen holes. The greens are large. The signature hole is #3. It requires an uphill tee shot with an overwater approach shot to the green.
Royal Palm is a private, member-owned golf club nestled in the charming community of Lely Country Club between downtown Naples and Marco Island.
Royal Palm membership is capped at 300. Golfers enjoy unlimited tee times and can either walk or ride the course.
