Blue Heron Golf & Country Club
Blue Heron Golf & Country Club first opened for play in 1991. The course was designed by M. Collins, E. Brown, and M. McMaster. Blue Heron opened a new set of nine holes in 2003, which serve as the back nine on this eighteen hole course. Don McBrayer did the 2003 new nine. The course closed for a period but has now reopened.
Each nine is distinctly different from each other. The front nine is a tough course with troublesome water hazards that greatly influence shot selection. The back nine is considerably tighter, but is considered by most to be more player-friendly. The fairways offer a moderate roll.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 5465 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4243 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 3, a par-5 that plays to 570 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 93 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, the 570 yard par-5 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 16, a 402 yard par-5.
