Detailed description

The Claw at the University of South Florida is a Public, 18-hole golf course located in Tampa, Florida.

The course opened in 1967. William F. Mitchell was the course architect.

The course gets its name from hole #14, a wicked par 5 that has a 90-degree dogleg to the left. The Claw-like shape of #14 will challenge you.

The Claw at USF is one of Tampa Bay's most challenging public golf courses. The course features long, tight fairways lined with majestic oaks, towering cypress, and pines. Home to alligators, deer, spoonbills, and other wildlife, you may feel like you are playing in the heart of a nature preserve. The Claw is home to the nationally-ranked USF Men's Golf Team and USF Women's Golf Team.

Other course amenities include a grass tee driving range, a learning center, and a large putting/chipping green.

Course closed September 2023.

The university announced on June 29 that it had made the difficult decision to close the public golf operations for The Claw at USF effective September 5, 2023.
