Gold Creek Resort opened as a Resort 18 hole golf course located in Dawsonville, Georgia.
Gold Creek Resort opened in 1995. The course was designed by Mike Young. The following year a 3rd nine holes opened. Gold Creek Golf Resort had three 9-hole golf courses. These courses could be combined in pairs to form three different 18 hole course challenges. The nine-hole courses were The Prospector Course, The El Dorado Course, and The Nugget Course.
In its early days, Gold Creek offered something for everyone. The course was a daily fee course, a neighborhood anchor amenity to help sell residential lots and ambiance and a resort and conference center stay and play facility.
In 2003, Gold Creek acquired new ownership and a new vision. California-based brothers, Bob and Jeff Tablak, the new owners turned their back on the stay and play resort market and sold off the conference center and lodging facilities to Southern Catholic College.
Following this move was consolidating the 27 holes into an 18-hole course. The new layout measuring just over 7,000 yards is longer than any combination of two of the original nines. The other 4 sets of tees provide an appropriate challenge to all levels of skill.
Gold Creek Golf Resort closed in August 2008 with the owners seeking bankruptcy protection.
