Folkston Golf Club

Folkston Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Folkston, Georgia.

The Folkston Golf Club Golf Course opened in 1954. It was expanded from 9 to 18-holes in 1967. The course was designed by Ed Matson.

The Folkston Golf Club Golf Course has a short front nine that features water hazards on three holes. The back nine plays longer than the front nine, and features many man-made hills which can cause uneven lies. Pecan and cedars trees line the fairways, and numerous sand bunkers have been incorporated into the course design.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,033 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,776 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 16, a par-5 that plays to 528 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 135 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 11, a 445 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Folkston Golf Club Golf Course is # 1, a 260 yard par-4.

The course closed in July 2004 after two years of heavy rainfall that led to a fungus that killed and the owners could not afford to buy the chemicals to kill the fungus. It got to the point they where were losing money bad and closed it down. The course re-opened in December 2009. Folkston lawyer John Adams represented the original owner when the course sold to Chicago businessman Roy Kim who had the course rennovated for reopening.
