Detailed description
Timber Creek Golf Club, formerly named Dixon Country Club and a private club, is now Semi-Private and is an 18 hole golf course located in Dixon, Illinois.

Timber Creek golf course first opened for play in 1915. The original 9-holes were designed by Tom Bendelow. The expansion to 18 holes was made in the 1960s.

Timber Creek golf course is course is moderately hilly. With gentle rolling fairways, Timber Creek was designed to give the golfer ample room off the tee while giving the player a challenge of a lie that may be slightly uphill or downhill. The greens are sloping and medium-sized. Water hazards (ponds) come into play on two holes, plus a creek comes into play on four other holes.

Timber Creek is one of those rare courses that you can play for the fun and challenge, or play because of the history. And what a history there is. This is a course that has hosted some of golf grates including Sam Snead and Jack Nicklaus.

One of the caddies went on to distinguish himself to a degree more than the most. Perhaps the rules and sportsmanship of golf added an extra touch to this young caddies already fine character. He went on to be the 33rd Governor of California and the 40th President of the United States. Yes, Ronald Reagan walked these links as a caddie. Later President Reagan brought such distinguished guests as Bob Hope and Jackie Finney to Timber Creek for rounds of golf.

The golf professional who hit the first shot at the very first Masters was Ralph Stonehouse. He was later the Club Professional at Timber Creek (Dixon Country Club) in the early 1940's.

Timber Creek Golf plays to a distance of 6,504 yards.
