Ames Golf & Country Club

Ames Golf & Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Ames, Iowa.

Ames Golf & Country Club first opened for play in 1974. The course was designed by Donald Sechrest.

Ames Golf & Country Club dates to 1911. The original Club, a nine-hole golf course with a clubhouse and swimming pool, was located south of Ames, Iowa. In 1971 land was purchased and a new golf course was built at the present location, north of Ames.

The grand opening was held on Labor Day 1974. The Club consists of 164 acres, including the golf course, a heated pool, a wading pool, and two tennis courts. 

The course has several sand bunkers and water hazards that can affect your shots.  This is a wide open layout, and the wind can pick up now and then, making this a very difficult course.  A difficult hole is #18, a 430-yard, par 4, which plays longer depending on the wind.
