Detailed description
Pennyrile Forest State Park Resort is a Public , 9 hole golf course located in Dawson Springs , Kentucky

Pennyrile Forest State Park Resort first opened for play as a 9-hole course in 1963. The course was designed by Larry Packard.

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is surrounded some of the most beautiful woods in western Kentucky. Named for the tiny Pennyroyal plant (small flowering mint) found in the area, the park is the perfect back-to-nature hideaway in the midst of a secluded, lush forest. Pennyrile Forest State Park Golf Course was expanded to a full 18-holes in 2003. This rural course lies at the bottom of a small valley surrounded by rolling hills. The course is flat with a creek running through the middle and water comes into play on every hole of the front nine.

The new nine plays over gently rolling hills and through a pine forest. Hole #3, a 446-yard, par 4, requires a tee shot from a narrow chute with woods on the left side and the creek on the right. The fairway slopes toward the water hazard so hitting your tee shot straight is a necessity. Another creek must be crossed before you reach the green, which is severely sloped.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,760 yards. From the foward tees the course plays to 4,744 yards. The longests hole on the course are # 13, and #15, both par-5s that plays to 566 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 1, a par-3 that plays to 152 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 446 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at The Pennyrile Golf Course is # 17, a 353 yard par-4.
