Detailed description

Frankfort Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Frankfort, Kentucky.

The Frankfort Country Club was formed 1913 by the Montgomery-Hoge Shoes Company as an amenity to their factory workers to entise them not to join a union. It was originally called "The Country Club" and was complete with a beautiful log cabin clubhouse. The original club enjoyed golf, tennis, clay shooting and plenty of dancing.

In the 1920's, the club moved from it's original location on Holmes Street to the Canty Farm off of HWY 60 between what is now Terra Linda Drive and interstate 64. That sight had the first 9-hole golf course which included cotton seed greens. The club house was a small building consisting of only four rooms.

In 1948, the club moved to what is now Brighton Park. They built a beautiful clubhouse with full amenities including a swimming pool, tennis courts and a 9-hole golf course. The course was designed by Bill Diddel.

The club moved to it's current location in 1973 as was included as part of the residential development Two Creeks. The current 18-hole championship golf course wasdesigned by Scruggs and Hammond Inc. out of Lexington who also designed Greenbrier CC.

Frankfort Country Club measures 6,568 yards from the back tees and plays to a par-72. The course rating is 71.4 with a slope rating of 134.

The course is not difficult if you keep your ball in the fairways. The signature hole is #10, a 133-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot from off an elevated tee box to a green which is protected by a creek in front and out-of-bounds stakes on the left and back side.

The Daniel Boone Invitational is an annual event at Frankfort Country Club.
