Detailed description

Beechtree Golf Club is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Aberdeen, Maryland.

The course was designed by Tom Doak. The course first opened for play in 1998. The Washington Times said, "Tom Doak superbly mixes links-style and parkland features for a course ranked among the region's premier public golf courses..."

The layout is a par 71 with four sets of tees, stretching from 5,363 yards to 7,023 yards.

The strong par-36 front nine plays over open, rolling pasture land. Natural streams and two large ponds come into play on six of the holes. The back nine weaves through tall hardwoods and includes a variety of natural hazards. There are no uninteresting holes, no gimmicks here.

Beachtree Golf Course closed in 2008.

The course was so well regarded it was on Golf Magazine's top 100 public course list. Doak claimed the success of Beechtree helped him get high profile jobs at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon and Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand. The course, only 30 miles east of Baltimore closed to make way for a housing development.
