Harbourtowne Resort Country Club is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Saint Michaels, Maryland. Harbourtowne has been described as "Maryland's Complete Waterfront Golf Experience."
The course first opened for play in 1971. The course was designed by Pete Dye.
The layout has many Pete Dye trademarks. Narrow fairways with target landing areas, carefully placed mounds in the rough, deep bunkers, high grass bunkers, neat little ponds, walls of railroad ties, and small protected greens are just a few of the highlights of this extraordinary course.
The course provides a great test of skills for players of all levels. Their practice facilities are excellent. They include a full service driving range, practice and bunker area, chipping/pitching green and a large putting green. As a destination resort course, as you would anticipate, they have quality golf clubs available for rental.
Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6,320 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,036 yards with a par of 71. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 555 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 7, a par-3 that plays to 133 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 10, a 414 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Harbourtowne Resort Golf Course is # 7, the 133 yard par-3.
The course closed in 2015. The land will be redeveloped with a completely new Pete Dye-designed course. The new course will not be a renovation, but rather a totally new layout.
