The course first opened for play in 1926. Many, including the Dudley Holl Golf Course website credit Devereaux Emmett. with the course design. In that, Mr. Emmett died in 1924. the assertion that he designed The Dudley Hill Golf course is unlikely. Most probably the course was designed by Alfred H. Tull who had worked as the chief engineer for the New York-based Devereaux-Emmett Co.
