Detailed description

Boston Golf Club is a private, invitation-only 18-hole golf course located 18 miles south of Boston in Hingham, Massachusetts.

The Boston Golf Club Golf Course opened for play in 2005. The course was designed by Gilbert Hanse.

The course sits on a classic New England site that has been left virtually undisturbed by the construction of the course. A minimal amount of earth was moved to construct bunkers, tees, and greens and the gentle contouring of the fairways were shaped to follow the natural landscape. The golf course is set in the natural beauty of Hingham woods.Stonework and expansive views, as well as natural settings, fill the landscape.

The Boston Golf Club Golf Course measures a maximum distance of 7,020 yards and plays to a par of 71.

The fairways are receptive and greens are very complex and can be tricky. The bunker styles and placements provide both visual beauty and definite hazard throughout the 18. Number 2 has rock outcroppings on the drive that are reminiscent of Brookline. Hole number 5 (pictured above) is called Shipwreck (all the holes have names). This hole has a carry-over dense scrub pine to a fairway that elevates quickly. The right side of the fairway is diabolical with huge grassy dunes and various, sandy waste areas to capture errant drives. The added challenge is the narrow, vertical green bordered on the far side by a narrow strip, Tillinghast- style bunker, and on the near side by a slightly elevated green complex that only accepts the most accurate shots. #6 looks like it belongs at Pine Valley. It is a par 3. This hole is similar in challenge to Augusta National's great # 12 as you have to hit almost a perfect shot to land and stay on the green. The tee is elevated and it is a 155-165 carry over a huge sandy waste area to a shelf-cut, narrow undulating green. # 9 has an elevated tee that is positioned about 80-90 feet above the landing area. It's called Geronimo and is a longer par 4 with a green framed by a big (Oak?) tree (in the front right) and a quiet brook on the right side. You then cross under the street to the next 9 holes. # 11 is another fine par 3 called "Petrified". This hole has a long carry-over beautiful wetlands to another left to right sloping green.

The Boston Golf Club Golf Course is a walking-only course and has caddies.
