Donnybrook Country Club is a Public 9-hole golf course in Lanesboroough, Massachusetts.
Donnybrook Country Club opened in 2008. James W. Kelly designed the course.
Donnybrook Country Club plays to a 9-hole par of 36 and a maximum 9-hole distance of 3,338 yards.
The greens are challenging, and the fairways, by design, don't give you many level lies. You have to think from each tee box because landing areas are disguised, and the mountainous nature of the course hides many little surprises. The 609-yard par-5 from the gold tees will delight those who hit it long. #4 is not all that long but is a very difficult par 3 because of the green. The other par 3, #8, is a fun hole that plays downhill. Many holes have breathtaking views of the Purple Mountains and the highest spot in Massachusetts, Mt. Greylock.
Donnybrook Country Club closed in 2023.
The owners and builders of Donnybrook Country Club in Lanesborough, Mass., have decided to close the nine-hole public golf course. They have listed the property as a private estate, which, as of December 2023, has been on the market for two years.
“Donnybrook is now on sale as a mansion with 165 acres and four barns,” said the listing agent, Realtor Andy Kelly, whose family owns the land. “It’s a beautiful property for a home.”
A new owner could retain the nine-hole layout as a private course or even reopen it to the public, “but it won’t be up to us to make that decision,” Kelly told The Berkshire Eagle. “Whoever purchases it could do whatever they like with it. Whatever happens will be up to the new owner.”
Marketing the property strictly as an estate “is the highest and best use of the property,” Kelly told The Eagle.
The property includes a mansion on 165 acres and four barns. It is listed for $2.9 million—down from an original price of $4.9 million. A new owner could retain the nine-hole layout as a private course or even reopen it to the public.
