Forest Akers Golf Course -The East, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in East Lansing, Michigan.
Michigan State University's Forest Akers Golf Course facility offers two 18-hole championship layouts. They are The West Course and The East Course.
The Forest Akers Golf Courses are recognized as two of the best public golf course in Michigan. Golf Digest has given Forest Akers West Course a four star rating and the East Course a three star rating. The Detroit News ranked Forest Akers West Course number six in the state of Michigan's public courses.
The East Course first opened for play in 1958. The East Course was redesigned in 1997 by Arthur Hills changing from par 71 to par 72. Numerous trees and bunkers were also added. The most extensive improvement was the addition of the new Golf Center. The East Course plays to a maximum distance of 6,490 yards for a par course rating of 70.3 and a slope rating of 114.
Forest Akers has a state of the art practice facility referred to as the Golf Center, two full-service Golf shops, and a full compliment of services.
The Golf Center is mid-Michigan's premier practice facility. The 20 acre practice area opened in 1997. The center features a three acre bentgrass practice tee, two separate teaching tees, practice bunkers, target greens, color coded yardage markers, and a 20,000 square foot putting green.
