The Michawye Pines Golf Club golf course opened in 1973. The course was designed by Robert W. Bills and Donald L. Childs. The Pines course was completely renovated and restored in 2004 by Don Childs, the original architect. Every hole features tee boxes carpeted with bent grass sod and each bunker is deeply shouldered with Bluegrass sod and filled with high quality sand. The positioning of the bunkers allows for a wide approach area into most of the greens.
The Michaywe Pines Course features secluded fairways winding through beautiful white birch and pine forests along the AuSable River. Strategic bunkering and a minimum of water hazards add to the character of this unique classic style course. The Pines was the site for the 1991 and 1996 Michigan Amateur Championship tournaments.
The Pines course is quite female friendly due to the forward tees for the ladies, yet it plays over 7000 yards from the tips requiring strategies from tee to green on every hole.
