Riverwood Golf Course & Resort -Blue
Riverwood Golf Course & Resort has a mature eighteen hole course (The White/Red Course) opened for play in 1932, plus an older nine hole course (The Blue Course) opened for play in 1925. The Chippewa River cuts through both of these very scenic courses and comes into play on several of their holes. Both courses have fairways that are narrow and tree lined. The large greens are medium speed, and the terrain is rolling.
BLUE COURSE - Par 35 (2,232 yards white, 2,207 red)
No. 1 - 204 Par 4: Should be one of the easiest holes at Riverwood, but don't go long or your score may not show that. The deep bunker in front catches many shots as does the trap to the right. Short of the traps is a good spot to approach from should you decide not to go for the green.
No. 2 - 231 Par 4: Tee shot here is strategic because the green is located right behind a tall group of trees. It is possible to go over the top and knock it on the green, but a shot to the right of the shallow, water-filled ditch is the best decision. It's a small, slanted green.
No. 3 - 163 Par 3: A straight-ahead par three which is harder to hit than you might think because the prevailing wind is in your face. The tee aims you right of the green, so beware. Not an easy green to putt with a ridge down the middle.
No. 4 - 159 Par 3: Huge bunker protects front and right, and a couple of hidden bunkers on the left gobble up other strays. It's a wide green in front which narrows to the back and goes to a second tier.
No. 5 - 237 Par 4: Short par four with only OB on the left to worry about. The green has a ridge in it which makes putts hard to read.
No. 6 - 317 Par 4: ough par four because of OB on left side and the fact that you're second shot is blind to a green located well below the fairway. The Chippewa River sneaks behind the hole, and there’s woods on both sides of the sloping green.
No. 7 - 283 Par 4; Tricky par four because of the big trees in the middle of the fairway about 200 yards out. If you can't go over the trees, keep it to the right and look for the opening to the green. The Chippewa River ambles along the left side and there’s a hidden pond right in front of the green.
No. 8 - 268 Par 4: The driving area is wide open so the key to this hole is the second shot to a tiny green with a hump in the middle. Large traps protect the front and there is a big drop-off behind the green.
No. 9 - 370 Par 5: Many feel this is the toughest hole at Riverwood. The driving area is wide open to about 190 yards, but narrows drastically with huge trees decorating both sides of the fairway. The green, which is elevated, sloped and difficult to hit, sits on a cliff to the right of the ever-present Chippewa River.
