Willow Wood Country Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in just outside of Portland, Michigan, 40 minutes east of Lansing.
Willow Wood Country Club opened in 1998. The course was designed by J. John Gorney.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6138 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4737 yards.
#2 is the longest hole, a par-5 that plays to 526 yards.
#3 is the shortest hole, a par-3 that plays to 133 yards.
#5, a 338-yard par-4 is all uphill from tee to green and all carry on your second shot over a sharp dogleg.
#6, a 305-yard par-4 is the signature hole. The hole curves ever so slightly around a pond and woods to the well-protected green.
#9 is a 424 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course.
#16 is a 482-yard par 5 that, despite its shorter yardage, is hard to go for in two because the fairway doglegs twice around and the green is fronted by water.
#17, the easiest hole at Willow Wood, a 171 yard par-3. #18 is a 434-yard par 4 with a long forced carry over a marsh to the fairway.
Willow Wood is often compared to The Brookshire Golf Club in Williamston. Like Brookshire, Willow Wood features ten water/wetland holes and well-manicured, readable greens. However, Willow Wood is shorter than Brookshire, and a bit more open with several longer forced carries off the tee.
