Albert Lea Golf Club first opened for play in 1922
Albert Lea is a demanding course. Trees and water hazards come into play on a few holes, but the fairways are typically wide. The Albert Lea Golf Club is a par-72 course that plays to a maximum distance of 5,869 yards. Guests must be accompanied by a club member to play on weekends.
Albert Lea Golf Club closed in 2006.
After the Club went bankrupt in 2006, it was purchased by a local land developer who ripped up the course with plans of building a housing community on-site. The new owner, hit with the collapse of the hosing market and economy also declared bankruptcy after banks foreclosed on the property.
