The course first opened in 1962.

The course plays to a 9-hole par of 30 and 9-hole distance of 1,830 yards.
The course was closed due to litigation. The city had purchased the course in 2006 for $1.8 million with a balloon payment of $1.5 million due in 2013. When 2013 rolled around and with property values down, the city attempted to renegotiate the price. The sellers took the city to court and prevailed in 2016.
