Timberton Golf Club, Lakeview Course, CLOSED 2005
Timberton Golf Club, The Lakeview Course first opened for play in 1998. The course was designed by James Ray Carpenter, past president of the PGA, and Ron Hickman, Timberton's director of golf.
Timberton Golf Club at that point, had an 18-hole course, The McCumber Course, consisting of the Creekside Nine and the Valley Nine. When the Lakeview Nine was added, it made Timberton Golf Club a 27-hole facility. With the addition of the nine hole Lakeview Course in 1998, Timberton had three nine hole courses that could be played in three eighteen hole combinations.
The Lakeview nine was carved out of adjacent timberland and is tighter than the original holes with more trouble coming into play.
Timberton Golf Club, The Lakeview Course is a par-36 challenge that plays to a maximum distance of 3,245 yards.
The Lakeview Nine was closed in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
