Broadview Country Club is a private sports club located in Carthage, Missouri. The club members have access to a swimming pool and tennis courts and access to the co-located Carthage Municipal Golf Course.
Broadview Country Club was incorporated on June 16, 1916.
An article in the Carthage Evening Press dated May 7, 1923, indicates that the club, with a clubhouse and nine-hole golf course, was located about a mile west of the present location.
After World War II the club was reorganized and in 1950, a new clubhouse was built at the current location adjacent to the municipal golf course. This freed the club from the expense of maintaining a course of its own.
The Broadview Country Club closed September 2016.
After 100 years as a hub of community events, the Broadview Country Club in Carthage, Mo., closed its doors for the last time on September 30, the Saint Robert, Mo., Waynesville Daily Guide reported.
Members posted pictures of a final party and gathering at the club on Facebook. Broadview Country Club Board President and Carthage Attorney Bill Lasley has been unavailable to comment this week, but other members have confirmed the closure, the Guide reported.
Miriam Putnam confirmed that she and her husband, Wayne Putnam, along with Greg and Shirley Freeman have purchased the clubhouse and 2.75 acres of land that goes with it. No information was available as to their future plans for the property, the Guide reported.
