Pease Golf Course

Pease Golf Course is a Public, 27 hole golf course located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The course traces its lineage to The Portsmouth Country Club which was established in 1901 with a 9-hole course. With the acquisition of additional adjacent land in 1929, the course was expanded to 18 holes. In August of 1955, the Army Engineers took Portsmouth Country Club by eminent domain proceedings. The land became part of the then newly formed Portsmouth Air Force Base. Officially active since January 1, 1956, Portsmouth AFB (as it was known then) was formally opened June 30 of that same year. On September 7, 1957, the Air Force dedicated and renamed the base in honor of Captain Harl Pease, Jr., a native of Plymouth, New Hampshire. Captain Pease had posthumously earned the Congressional Medal of Honor for his extraordinary heroism as a B-17 pilot during a bombing raid against the Japanese in Rabaul, New Britain, in August of 1942. With the change in name of the base came a change in name to the golf course.

The course was redesigned in 1960 by Al Zikorus. 

Pease AFB, home to SAC's 509th Bomb Wing closed March 31, 1991. A Civil Redevelopment Plan was put into place including the use of the runway as a civilian airport, co-location of National Guard assets, and opening the golf course as public access facility. 

In 2000, a third nine-hole course was added to the original course. 

A $3.4 million golf renovation project started in October 2012 was completed in July 2014. Brad Booth did the course renovation design work.
