Both course were designed by the design team of Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry.
The Highlands course, at more than seven thousand yards, is a championship layout that provides appropriate challenges to the skilled golfer. Among its most distinctive features are sculpted bunkers with high sand flashing, recreating the older, dramatic style of bunkering. Strategy is at a premium on holes such as Number Fourteen, "Long Look," a 545-yard classic risk-reward par 5. "If the carry over the greenside bunkers is too much for you," says course architect Dana Fry, "you can lay up on your second shot out to the left."
The Hickory Course, is a full eighteen hole par-3 course (par for the course 54), and is the only USGA rated par 3 course in the United States. The course is designed to challenge every golfer’s favorite shot. “If there is a better par-3 course in America, I’d like to know where it is,†Says architect Dana Fry.
