Sunset Valley Golf Course first opened for play in 1974. The course was designed by Hal Purdy and Malcolm Purdy.
Sunset Valley Golf Course is one of the most popular golf courses in New Jersey. The tree-lined fairways are hilly, and the large greens are undulating. Sand and grass bunkers come into play. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 7th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. Hole #16, a 555-yard, par 5, was rated the toughest in New Jersey. Sunset Valley Golf Course was rated 4-Stars by Golf Digest's "Places to Play" and Top Women-Friendly Courses Award by "Golf for Women" magazine. Sunset Valley Golf Course offers the best three finishing holes in New Jersey. According to 2005 Zagat Survey, it is a fantastic public course.
