Detailed description

Storm King Golf Club, a long-time Private Club, became Semi-private, open for public play in 2016. The 9 hole golf course is located in Cornwall, New York.

The course first opened for play in 1894. The course was designed by Willy Norton and George Low. Storm King has been listed by the USGA as one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S.

This course sits in a valley surrounded by scenic mountains.  The fairways are narrow and tree lined, and the small greens are medium speed.  Water hazards (a pond and a creek) come into play on six holes.  The terrain is hilly, so expect many uneven lies.

White tees: par-36, 3,149 yards, 35.1 / 128(M), 38.4 / 137(W)
Red tees: par-36, 2,913 yards, 34.0 / 127(M), 37.4 / 131(W)

Interesting stuff _____________________

The course defaulted on its's bank mortgage in 2013. Since then, the course has been on the market for $1 million and remains open. The bank has hired course management. The land was originally donated for golf course use. The deed requires that should the course close, the land must be returned to the original family / heirs. Buyer and loan officers, beware. Wow!

Update, April 2016.

Buyers have purchased the course for an undisclosed amount. They are getting in 30 new golf carts and have started work bringing the course back to its full potential. The course will be semi-private with bot membership and public play options.
