Jamestown Park Golf Course

Jamestown Park Golf Course is a Public 18 holes golf course located in Jamestown, North Carolina. 

Jamestown Park Golf Course first opened for play in 1974. The course was designed by John Townsend. The course was renovated in 2016 by Golf Course Architect Lester George. 

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,665 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,298 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 560 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 4, a par-3 that plays to 155 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 440-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 4, a 155 yard par-3.

The course has ponds coming into play on at least six different occasions.  In addition, numerous trees line the fairways that can alter your shots.

The 2016 renovation included the redesign, reconstruction, and re-grassing of 19 green complexes.

The greens had not been updated in the course's more than 40 years of operation. Many of the original greens had severe slopes that frustrated golfers, and there were very limited hole placement options. A survey of frequent players at Jamestown Park revealed that the main complaint of golfers was the excessive slope on the greens, which sometimes exceeded 7%.

George made dramatic changes to the slopes of the greens, which not only made play more enjoyable for golfers but also allowed for a much wider variety of hole placements. Drainage and irrigation improvements were also made to allow for better turf maintenance and more sustainable cultural practices for the future.
